Msinsi Albert Falls dam is situated 20 km away from Pietermaritzburg, off R33 Greytown Road in an area known as Crammond, overlooking the Karkloof Hills. Albert Falls Dam Wall GPS Coordinates 29° 26’ 01” S 30° 25’ 27” E.

The area around the Msinsi Albert Falls Dam is filled with secluded nature trails and picnic spots, it also offers wonderful game viewing, boating, fishing and hiking opportunities. One of the largest dams in KwaZulu Natal, Albert Falls Dam is a popular playground for sailors, canoeists and hikers. The dam is rated one of the best bass fishing dam in the world and an international bass fishing competition is held there annually.

Below Midmar Dam, the uMngeni plunges over the 111m high Howick Falls and into the uMngeni Valley where remnants of Midland forest can be seen. The Karkloof tributary then joins before the uMngeni flows into Albert Falls Dam. Approaching Albert Falls, the uMngeni meanders through grassed farmland, where the riverbanks are treeless or invaded by woody alien plants. Below the falls, the river traverses deeply dissected terrain, which forms the western edge of the Valley of a Thousand Hills.

Msinsi Albert Falls Dam & Game Reserve is located 20km away from the Capital City, Pietermaritzburg and it is accessible to day visitors for picnics and water sports. Customers can make use of our fully furnished self-catering 16 x 2 sleeper rondavels and 3 x 6 sleeper chalets and a secluded Notuli cottage that can sleep up to 6 people. And for the outdoor lovers, Msinsi Albert Falls offers 14 waterfront sites, 33 electrical campsites and 50 non electrical campsites.

We have four neat and clean ablutions that are serviced daily for our campers and they have hot and cold showers. The upmarket hall at Msinsi Albert Falls can be used for wedding receptions, parties, conferences etc and the outdoor lovers can hold small conferences on the thatched gazebo situated at Notuli site.

The security officers patrol the area during the night and field staff patrol during the day.

There are 84 closed lockers and 20 open lockers that are hired out to customers who may store their boats, trailers and caravans. We have two club houses for the members of the yatch club and the bassmasters club.

Msinsi Albert Falls has a 784ha game park and game viewing is offered to customers on our game viewing vehicle. Game that customers can see: Zebra, Reedbuck, Red Hartebeest, Blesbok, Impala, Blue Wildebeest, Giraffe, Warthog, Waterbuck, Oribi, Grey Duiker, Busbuck, Nyala, Kudu, and Cape buffalo.
